Engineering, construction and maintenance contracts worth an estimated £53 million pounds over the next four years are set to go out to tender from Bath & North East Somerset Council.

Current contracts for general building works, minor building works and engineering services are coming to the end of their terms.

The council is now urging local small and medium sized contractors to look on www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk where details of the contracts will be posted in the coming weeks.

Bath & North East Somerset Council runs all its procurement activities using an electronic tendering portal.

Once registered, businesses will be alerted to relevant opportunities and can submit tender and quotation responses online.

Councillor Charles Gerrish, cabinet member for Finance and Efficiency, said: “Our current contracts are coming to an end and with a number of projects in the pipeline, we are keen to expand our supply chain of small and medium-sized local contractors who have the knowledge, experience and capacity to undertake maintenance and development works on a huge variety of properties across the estate which comprises over 1200 properties.”

The council is also inviting businesses to an event in April where they can meet the Council’s construction and maintenance team for advice on the procurement process.

Details are being confirmed and will be posted on the portal.

Any business interested in finding out more can register interest and check for updates on the Supplying the South West Portal at: https://www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk/.
