Business leaders in Bath have had a chance to quiz the election hopefuls about their policies and proposals at a packed event at the Bath City Hilton hotel.
At the event, organised by the Institute of Directors, candidates Julian Deverell (UKIP), Loraine Brinkhurst-Morgan MBE (Independent), Ollie Middleton (Labour), Steve Bradley (Liberal Democrat), Dominic Tristram (Green) and Ben Howlett (Conservative) had the opportunity to set out their vision for business in the city before taking questions from the floor.
It was chaired by Professor Peter Hawkins, founder and Emeritus Chairman of Bath Consultancy Group and Visiting Professor at the University of Bath.
Hannah Goodenough, representing the IoD, said: “It was important for us to give our members and their guests the chance to hear first hand what each of the election candidates is offering our business community in terms of policies and support.
“In turn, it gave the candidates some challenging food for thought with subsequent questions which covered a range of issues from transport infrastructure through to new business developments such as the Craneworks.
“Our membership is growing rapidly in the city and it’s a very proactive business community.
“Bath is a great place to do business and we need commitment from our future political representatives to make sure it stays that way and continues to attract inward investment.”
