The highly anticipated new Langridge Grandstand at Bath Racecourse has been officially opened, marking the completion of the highly successful multi-million pound redevelopment programme.

The new Grandstand was opened on Wednesday 20th July by The Chairman of Bath and North East Somerset Council, Councillor Alan Hale in front of an audience of invited guests and local business people and ahead of a full afternoon of eight races.

The guest list included principal partners of Bath Racecourse, Dribuild Ltd, and MJ Church & Brakes, as well as official business partners and suppliers, media representatives, racing industry leaders, key horse owners and trainers, and representatives from the development team, including architect, designers, and construction team.

The Langridge Grandstand is a three storey, contemporary structure designed by D5 Architects which is set to be an instant landmark thanks to the exclusive Roof Garden set under an enormous sail-inspired canopy.

The Roof Garden offers visitors an unrivalled premium viewing spot on race days. The Grandstand also features the spacious 1811 public bar on the ground floor with viewing steps for up to 400 people, as well as a 200 seat trackside restaurant and function room with a balcony named after Bath’s famous Royal Crescent.

Speaking about the opening, Jo Hall, Executive Director at Bath Racecourse said: “This has been a historic day for Bath Racecourse. The new facilities firmly establish Bath Racecourse as one of the country’s leading racing venues, but also brings to the Bath area new function and conferencing facilities ideal for weddings and parties, businesses events, award ceremonies, and private dining.

“We are delighted the new facilities have been so well received and it has been fitting to finish the redevelopment work with the official opening of the Langridge Grandstand, which is impressive on every level and offers purpose-built facilities.

“Racegoers are sure to appreciate it and we anticipate a bright future for Bath Racecourse.”
