The Queensberry Hotel in Bath has won ‘Best Hotel’ in the food Magazine food Reader Awards 2015, after beating hotels in Cornwall and Devon at a ceremony on Monday.

The only Bath Hotel to reach the final 3, The Queensberry Hotel won the prestigious Best Hotel Award at food Magazine’s food Reader Awards, beating Merchants Manor in Cornwall and The Two Bridges Hotel in Devon.

The award, sponsored by Jelf, celebrated a hotel that not only offers exceptional accommodation, but that also provides superb dining and quality food and drink to both guests and non-residents.

The South West’s original and leading food magazine, food has been providing the foodies of the South West and visitors with hand-picked places to eat, stay, shop and cook for 12 years.

Covering Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, the food Reader Awards are voted for exclusively by readers of food magazine and the food Insider’s Guide website, making them highly sought after accolades.

Over 9,000 readers cast 40,000 votes for 120 businesses to find the very best in West Country food and drink.

Sponsored by Yeo Valley, the 2015 ceremony was held at their headquarters in Bristol, which was decorated with quirky edible decor for the event.

Owner, Laurence Beere was delighted with the award. He said: “We like to think we offer the perfect package at The Queensberry Hotel and Olive Tree Restaurant so to win is a fantastic achievement.

“The fact that the awards are judged by readers and diners themselves makes it all the more special.”

The Queensberry is an 18th Century hotel steeped in history, found in the centre of Bath.

The commissioner and original owner of the property, the 8th Marquess of Queensberry who had the townhouses built in 1771, would be proud of the namesake hotel with its in-house restaurant, Olive Tree, which currently has England’s Best Wine List.

Tipped for a Michelin Star, Head Chef Chris Cleghorn’s informal fine dining experience is not to be missed.
