Two local entrepreneurs are selling their popular, award-winning Italian restaurant in Bath this September, to raise funds to launch an exciting new business venture.
Since opening in November 2012, Nonna’s Italian restaurant, on Gay Street in Bath, has become a huge hit with locals and tourists alike; most notably winning the prestigious Bath Good Food Awards ‘Best Italian’ accolade within first year of opening.
Despite its success, owners, Angelo Tallo 31 and Laura Tallo 32, have taken the decision to sell the popular eatery this September to invest in an exciting new business venture they are hoping will transform the event hire and catering sector.
The young entrepreneurs will launch Stella Event Hire and Catering in October, an online event hire business that also offers exciting catering solutions; everything from personal chefs to live pizza making.
The idea began when the couple were organising their daughter’s first birthday. What started as a small family gathering soon burgeoned into a huge extravaganza with the couple frantically sourcing chairs, plates, and cutlery.
Inspired by their wedding in Naples, the couple decided to cater the party with ‘live cooking stations’ offering everything from paella, porchetta and steaks to handmade Neopolitan pizzas. The party was a huge success with recently engaged friends requesting similar for their wedding.
The Keynsham-based business will deliver nationwide, providing high quality hire equipment at lowest possible prices for everything from weddings, birthdays and private events, to festivals, corporate functions and sporting events.
The couple have invested heavily in a simple, easy to use website where items can be ordered at the click of a button.
Angelo explained: “When planning our daughter’s party, we were frustrated many hire companies emailed quotes rather than clearly displaying prices.”
Laura added: “We want to make event hiring quick, easy, and affordable so it becomes accessible to everyone; whether it’s an event planner organising an elaborate wedding or somebody needing extra chairs and plates when the relatives descend at Christmas.
“Plus, our ‘Send it back dirty service’ gives you the best of both worlds; the luxury of glassware and china minus the washing up!”
The catering business offers fun, theatrical catering options such as live pizza making and grill station masters.
Experienced chef and owner, Angelo, continued: “I am looking forward to adding the wow factor to events by interacting with guests, preparing food freshly in front of them and even getting them involved.”
As part of their launch the young entrepreneurs will be offering free pizza to locals. They are encouraging people to connect with their social media platforms as the date and location of the launch event will be exclusively revealed via social media.
