Writhlington and surrounding areas are set to benefit from improved bus services this Autumn in response to requests by local Councillors and residents.
The Council will be improving services 768 and 179 to cover Manor Park and the Sunday service for Radstock, Midsomer Norton, Paulton and Timsbury will be improved with a more regular and convenient schedule.
Radstock Councillor Simon Allen commented: “I am delighted that the Council has agreed to arrange these improvements, which we and local residents have been calling for.
“Up to now there had been no buses directly serving Manor Park in Writhlington. This new route greatly improves the situation for elderly people and those with reduced mobility.
“This bus route is very important for local residents as it provides a direct link to Bath city centre, including the bus and train stations.”
Radstock Liberal Democrat campaigner Nettie Williams added: “I believe local residents will particularly welcome the improvements to the Sunday bus services.
“For many people, Sunday is the best day to shop or have a day out to attend one of the many special events and festivals which often take place on Sundays.
“The former Sunday bus service was not very regular throughout the day and didn’t fit in with peoples’ needs. This new service is a great improvement, benefitting Radstock as well as other local towns and villages.
“I am glad that B&NES Council is listening to the needs of residents in Radstock.”
