An award-winning Bath police officer has been given another accolade – a civic reception in the Mayor’s parlour.
PC Adrian Secker was invited to the Guildhall to mark being named Avon and Somerset’s Beat Manager of the Year in the recent Neighbourhood Policing Awards.
He and his family, friends and police colleagues were welcomed by the Mayor, Cllr Malcolm Lees, who congratulated him on his achievement and his community policing work in Twerton.
PC Secker said: “It’s a real honour to be here and I’m very proud. But none of this would be possible without my neighbourhood team who work so hard. I’m very grateful to them.”
Bath neighbourhood Inspector Steve Mildren said: “Adrian is very well respected on his beat, and it was members of the community who nominated him for his award.
“It’s a great award for him and it’s good for Bath police as well that his work has been recognised.”
PC Secker is also a Mayor’s Guide, responsible for showing visitors around Bath and explaining the city’s history.
His civic reception included a fascinating talk about the centuries-old office of Mayor – there have been 786 – and a chance to browse the official visitors’ book with signatures including those of Winston Churchill and the Queen.
