The Assembly Rooms in Bath was transformed on Tuesday into a professional catwalk for the highly anticipated Bath Spa University Fashion Show.
Over 550 distinguished guests and members of the public attended two shows, one at 3:30pm and another at 7:00pm which sold out quickly once tickets went on sale.
The Show was funded by the University’s Fashion students and produced by London Fashion Week show producer John Walford with a cast of professional catwalk models from all the key London model agencies.
Collections by 23 final year graduating students, including Graduate Fashion Week 2014 Womenswear and Gold Award winner, Grace Weller, were showcased alongside a selection of first and second year work.
Reflecting on her win and experience at Bath Spa, Grace said: “I am still in shock at winning the awards at Graduate Fashion Week and with all the attention I am getting.
“My course at Bath really helped me to channel and develop my ideas and to think more professionally about my work. In the final year we are encouraged to see ourselves as designers developing our first collection and not as students and this has been a great help.”
Grace’s achievement is evidence of the continued success of the BA (Hons) Fashion Design course at Bath School of Art and Design and she follows another Bath Spa graduate, Chloe Jones who won the same Awards at Graduate Fashion Week 2012.
Commenting on the high quality of work, Course Leader of Fashion at Bath Spa University, Louise Pickles said: “We are ambitious for the course and for all of our students. We have a reputation for challenging our students both with their ideas and the quality of work.
“The key thing is that all of our students develop a personal identity within their work, that they are true to themselves, and that they work to a professionally high standard in all areas so they are able to compete nationally and internationally after graduating.”
