A well used and popular walkway in Peasedown St John has been given a complete makeover, thanks to the efforts of two local councillors.
Nathan Hartley and Karen Walker secured £8,000 from B&NES Council to resurface the well used footpath between Bath Road and Bloomfield Way, located opposite the Co-op in the centre of the village.
As a main walk route between the local shops and the Orchard Way estate, Nathan and Karen were keen to ensure the path was given a makeover before the surface’s condition became any worse.
Cllr Karen Walker said: “We’re grateful to the council’s Public Right’s of Way Department for allocating this funding.
“Residents have raised this issue with us often in recent weeks – asking for works to be carried out to make sure this path is much easier to use.
“The finished path looks fantastic, and will now be much more pleasurable to use by those that take this route every day.”
The resurfacing of the path comes just four months after the councillors officially named ‘Bloomfield Way’, which is adjacent to the path and the main connection route between the 1,000 houses built in the community over the last 25 years.
Peasedown councillor Nathan Hartley added: “If any residents would like to speak to Karen and I about other footpaths that need resurfacing please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
“We are keen to make sure that our local public realm is kept looking clean and attractive.”
