RUH Deep Cleaning In Hospital Wards

The Royal United Hospital are using the better weather, and a settling down period from a busy winter, as a perfect opportunity to undertake a deep cleaning programme on several of the hospital wards.

The work commenced on Monday and in order to manage this successfully, it will be necessary to close one whole ward at a time and for patient beds to be unoccupied. This will enable such things as the removal of radiators to clean behind them.

Francesca Thompson, Chief Operating Officer at the RUH, is leading the plan to ensure there is minimal disruption and upheaval for our patients and their families.

She said: “We want to forewarn visitors of the programme and to let you know that during this time, it will be necessary to move patients between wards.

“If you are intending to visit relatives or friends on any of the wards involved in the cleaning programme, please check with the hospital’s main reception desk before going to the ward.

“Our staff will do all that they can to minimise any disruption during the duration of the deep cleaning programme and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The deep cleaning programme is due to be completed by the beginning of July.
