Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg visited Bath today to promote apprenticeships and take a tour of Bath College.
Arriving at the college around 2pm, the leader of the Liberal Democrats took a tour of the newly opened Roper Building before joining the training chefs in the kitchens for a quick demonstration.
Joined by local Lib Dem MP Don Foster and the College’s principal Matt Atkinson, student Lauren guided the three in making the perfect fruit tart, though the results left a lot to be desired with Matt exclaiming to Lauren “Yours looked ten times better than ours!”.
He was later joined by some of the College’s apprentices to learn of their experiences in working with the College and to find out more on the work they were doing.
Clegg was visiting the City to see how young people were being encouraged to get working, after he announced earlier in the week of the new Government funding of £126 million to get around 55,000 younger people who are not currently employed, in education or training into work or to begin learning.
