First Marketing Causes Stir

Thursday evening saw the unveiling of some new 2012 marketing by First Great Western to encourage their travelers to visit Bath under the ‘I’m a Great Westerner’ initiative. Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to check it through carefully before sending it to print!

Designed by a company in Edinburgh, the new marketing posters have been seen in stations such as London Paddington but they seem to have a crucial mistake – titled ‘I’m the biggest clown in town.’ they show the Royal Crescent with the location marked as ‘Royal Circus’.

Their 2011 marketing for destinations around the West of England attracted some attention when they advertised getting a train to Dartmouth via First Great Western, even though the closest station is six miles away. Bath fared better in that round of publicity, with last year’s poster being seen below.

These aren’t new at all, I saw it loads last year (in Swindon) – there’s a big version of this at Swindon station that says Royal Crescent too. I like it 🙂

Hi Kyle, it is the top picture we’re referring to for the story, not the bottom picture which is also part of their marketing campaign.
Apologies for not making it clearer.

I don’t understand? The poster does say Royal Crescent?
