The police cars at Bath’s police station are looking spick and span thanks to a team of car washing children who were on a mission to clean up the car park.
The Year 5 and 6 pupils from St Andrew’s Primary in Northampton Street sponged and scrubbed patrol cars and private vehicles – all in aid of a fund-raising drive to renovate their school’s small playground.
The car wash class was organised by neighbourhood PCSOs Julie Durbin and Brian Harris, who are regular visitors to the school and who help with fund-raising events every year.
Brian said: “We know that the playground is badly in need of improvement, so we thought a police station car wash was a good and fun way to help raise some money.”
Bath District Commander, Chief Superintendent Geoff Spicer, presented the youngsters with a cheque for £250 and said: “Thank you all very much for getting so wet and tired cleaning our cars – I hope this cheque is a good enough reward for all your hard work.”
St Andrew’s teacher Helen Shoubridge said: “The children really enjoyed themselves and worked really hard. We’re very grateful to Bath police for the generous cheque, and for showing us around the station too.“
