This week, The Pig is mostly…
WISHING a very warm welcome to what promises to be a very exciting brand new restaurant opening at The Bird (Pulteney Street) on Wednesday 7th October. ‘plate by Leon Smith’ focuses on stylish yet simple produce-led dishes wrought from ultra-seasonal, local ingredients on a weekly-changing menu served up in a relaxed, informal environment – Bring. It. On! (https://www.thebirdbath.co.uk/plate-restaurant/)
TUCKING in to sweet and savoury crepes (if, that is, I can resist the fresh waffles) served up by Pan Crepes – a fabulous new addition to Green Park Station’s foodie family (https://www.greenparkstation.co.uk)
DELIGHTED to see that the fully scrubbed-up Moorfields pub (Third Avenue, very close to Moorland Road) is poised to open its doors in early October – well done to the Bath Pub Co for breathing a much-needed blast of fresh air back into one of Bath’s most characterful neighbourhood hostelries (https://themoorfields.com/)
GETTING firmly – and very fondly – reacquainted with the joys of a fish/pie supper at Seafoods (Kingsmead Square). Bath’s oldest chippie was established way back in 1908, but subtle revamps (including a lovely alfresco area) have gently bought the whole experience bang up-to-date without sacrificing the take away/eat in combo’s original, traditional charms. Dive in, Piggies! (http://seafoodsfishandchips.co.uk)
LOVIN’ the Tasting Package Parties for groups of 2-5 guests recently introduced by Novel Wines (Cork Place) Choose from an expert host-guided 5-wine (or cider, or spirits!) tour, or upgrade and accompany your tipples with specially selected cheese – or chocolate! Now that’s what we call a novel idea… (https://www.novelwines.co.uk/pages/wine-cider-and-spirit-tastings-at-cork-place-in-bath)
TANTALISED by Sugarcane Studio’s social media teasers that keep popping up on timelines everywhere, promising us that “something very exciting is happening on Grove Street”. What have Bath’s macaron magicians/perfect patisserie specialists got in store for us? Watch this space! (https://www.sugarcanestudio.co.uk)
