This week, The Pig is mostly…
EAGERLY anticipating a Brazilian/Mexican staycation experience at Novel Wines’ next Wine Tasting event at their Cork Place HQ on Friday 21 August, when sommelier Deniz Bayram will be hosting a tasting of six fabulous South American tipples accompanied by a cheese pairing courtesy of Nibbles Cheese. Places must be booked in pairs (£50 per pair) and space is strictly limited to just 8 people, so booking is essential. MAKING the most of a modern Indian summer at a courtyard table at Bandook Kitchen (Milsom Place) where the chaats, Taco Dosas, Grandma’s Curries and much, much more are all best enjoyed accompanied by one of their rather spectacular cocktails. And take note, Piggies: Covid-19 precautions are exemplary and Bandook is now open on Mondays too, but advance booking is appreciated any day/night of the week. (https://bandookkitchen.com)
DELIGHTED to see the Electric Bear Brewing Co’s Taproom (Brassmill Lane) open for business again every Friday from 12noon-10pm, Saturday 12noon-8pm and 2-6pm on Sundays. There’s plenty of new space (part of the car park has given way to seating), shade and shelter for all and, of course, the Bear’s bountiful brews are all available for click’n’collect for those who don’t want to linger long. FILLING my boots (or rather, my stylishly elegant shopping baskets, of course!) at the Mac Shack shop at New Macdonald’s Farm at every opportunity, not least of all because prized Dexter Beef has just joined the line up of top notch, locally sourced produce (including, of course, Matt and Lou’s legendary eggs) and is available fresh every Wednesday and frozen on Thursdays. E-I-E-I-Oooooh! (https://en-gb.facebook.com/newmacdonaldsfarm1)
REMINDING all Piggies that we’re embarking on week 3 of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme: the government-funded initiative that aims to provide a much-needed boost to the struggling hospitality industry, in full force until 31 August. Participating restaurants/food establishments will offer customers a 50% discount on food or soft drinks (up to a maximum of £10pp) every Monday-Wednesday – miss out, and you’ll really miss out.
