This week, The Pig is mostly…

FLYING into The Bird (Pulteney Street) as often as possible throughout October. Not only has their Eat Out To Help Out deal been extended until the end of the month, but an exciting new restaurant (that’ll be ‘plate’, then) opens its doors on Wednesday 21st October (https://www.thebirdbath.co.uk/food/)

ALL set to experience the very first Ping At Home menu: a freshly prepared ready meal extravaganza curated by none other than MasterChef winner Ping Coombes, available to click’n’collect from Larkhall Butchers. In the mood for Penang Beef and Peanut/Chickpea, Roasted Squash and Spinach Curry with sides of Bang Bang Cauliflower, Rainbow Rice Spice Rolls and crunchy vegetables wrapped in rice paper? Email [email protected] by 6pm on Tuesday for collection between 2pm on Friday and 1.30pm Saturday. New menus are unveiled every week; sign up for a regular ping from Ping here: https://www.pingcoombes.com.

INTRIGUED by the new autumn menu recently unveiled at The Circus, where right here, here now local British produce (field mushrooms, figs, squash, game, cobnuts, et al) happily mingles with an array of imaginative, far-flung inspirations. Cape Malay Bobotie… on Brock Street? Roll up, Piggies! (https://www.thecircusrestaurant.co.uk)

DUSTING off the best bib’n’tucker in readiness to tuck in to supper at the brand new Elder Restaurant at the brand new Indigo Hotel – yup, the date has been set, in readiness for full review purposes… (http://theelder.co.uk)

ADDICTED to keeping an eye on the Avellino’s Deli (Cleveland Place East/London Road) Twitter feed, where the constant flow of Italian delicacies has required them to publish a Product of the Day, every day. Trending at the time of writing: biscuit based Italian Crostata tarts. Da non perdere, Piggies! (@AvellinosDeli on Twitter)

COMING over all ooh la la at beautiful modern European bistro Chez Dominique (Argyle Street) where the classy fixe prix menu (2 courses for £20; 3/£24) makes a classic French feast of, say, ham hock terrine followed by steak frites rounded off with St Emilion au Chocolat pud an affordable pick-me-up treat for all.
