Clearly no spoilers here, the plot revolves around Professor Goodman, an arch-sceptic out to debunk the paranormal, he embarks on an investigation of three apparent hauntings – as recounted by a night-watchman, a teenage boy, and a businessman awaiting his first child – Goodman finds himself at the outer limits of rationality, and fast running out of explanations.
The design by Jon Bausor and lighting by James Farncombe allow the plot to move with great atmosphere and suspense.
It is loud and there are a few jump scares but the skill is in its creation of psychological tension. There is plenty of this.
The cast embodies the spirit of the piece, headed by Dan Tetsell as Professor Goodman; desperate to find an explanation for the ghostly happenings.
David Cardy, Eddie Loodmer-Elliott and Clive Mantle are also part of the team which allows the energy and pace of the 90-minute ride to never falter.
There is much to enjoy here, the creative illusions are effective and the audience clearly enjoyed the production.
Perhaps not suitable if you are of an extremely nervous disposition but the challenge is well worth the watch.
