Alzheimer’s Society: Keep connected after the holidays

After reconnecting with friends and family over the holidays, New Year can be a bleak and lonely time for people with dementia and their carers.

Worryingly, research shows that 39 per cent of people in the South West mistakenly think the benefits of visiting people with dementia who no longer recognise you are minimal.

On the contrary, spending time with loved ones and taking part in meaningful activities can have a powerful and positive impact, even if they don’t remember the event itself.

Our services enable people affected by dementia to stay connected and feel part of their community.

Visit alzheimers.org.uk/localinfo for more information or call 0300 222 11 22.

Angie Newing, Alzheimer’s Society operations director – South England
