Work to upgrade the skate park in Bath’s Royal Victoria Park has begun, with new facilities being added to make the area better for local skaters and riders.

When completed, the new-style skate park will continue to accommodate all small-wheeled sports such as skateboarding, BMX-riding, scooter riding and rollerblading/skating.

It will incorporate concrete bowls sunk into the ground which replicate the current large ramps in the park and offers more ‘street’ features and better ‘flow’.

The re-design and build of the park is being carried out by Canvas Spaces on behalf of Bath & North East Somerset Council.

The skate park area and footpath next to it will be closed until the work is finished; the play area will remain unaffected.

The work has been planned at this time so that it can be completed before the school summer holidays

The Council says there should be little impact on play area users other than some periods of construction noise, primarily while the old equipment is removed and the ground dug in preparation for the new skate facility.
