Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died after a collision on the outskirts of Bath yesterday.

The A39 to the west of Bath was closed for six hours yesterday after the crash between a motorcycle and a car.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Corston at 3.35pm after reports of the collision.

The motorcyclist was travelling along the A39 towards Corston Village when he was involved in the collision with a car near to the Wheatsheaf public house.

Upon arrival, Avon Fire and Rescue crews from Keynsham found the two vehicles both on fire.

South Western Ambulance service sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and an air ambulance with a critical care team to the scene.

The motorcycle rider, a man from the Bristol area, received treatment from paramedics but was declared dead at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police released this afternoon that the motorcyclist had died following the collision, and are appealing for witnesses to call the Collision Investigation Team on 101.

They would like to hear from anyone who may have been on the A39 or in the Corston area around the time of the incident.

The A39 stayed closed until around 9.30pm yesterday.
