Witnesses who spoke to police officers at the scene of a theft in Bath are asked to contact police so that we can speak to them again about what they saw.

The theft occurred at 9.30pm on Saturday (14th December) at the Sainsbury’s supermarket.

The victim had gone to get a trolley but when he checked his wallet he realised he did not have a coin. He then went into the store not realising he had dropped his wallet.

While in the shop he discovered his wallet missing and went outside where he spoke to three females, one of whom had picked up the wallet. She had asked around to try and find the owner and it had been claimed by a homeless man.

Following a search of the area a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of theft and assault but the wallet has not been found.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened.

They would also like to speak to witnesses who spoke to police officers at the scene but left before officers could take their contact details.

If you can help please contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101 and quote 124909/13.
