B&NES Council, Visit Bath, Bath Business Improvement District, SouthGate, Milsom Place, Kingsmead Square and Walcot Street have teamed up to bring the Magic of Christmas to Bath in 2017.
Kicking off on 16th November, the warm glow of twinkling Christmas lights will signify the start of the late-night shopping offer across the city, prior to the start of the Christmas Market on 23rd November and the much-loved Christmas tree in front of the Abbey.
The Christmas festivities will continue throughout the month of December with attractions and events to enjoy during that time rather than one official lights switch on.
Walcot Street is holding their successful Winter Festival again this year as the Artisan Quarter of Bath promises to be a Celebration of Festive Arts and Crafts, a Traditional Children’s a Lantern Procession, along the length of Walcot Street on Sunday 26th November, with pupils from St Andrew’s, Oldfield Park and St Mary’s Bathwick all taking part – with carols being sung outside the Hilton Hotel, before returning to Walcot Chapel.
Northumberland Place and the Corridor will be celebrating one of Bath’s famous residents from the Victorian era; stepping back in time to a Dickensian Christmas with costumed characters, musical entertainment and traditional festive treats, you may even see the first signs of snow for the winter, if you visit on each of the Thursday evenings in December in the lead up to Christmas.
For the first time, Kingsmead Square will be hosting a festive Street Food Market with 18 street food stalls offering a plethora of exciting street food options to cater for all palates, plus a mulled wine bar and live music will add to the festivities.
Starting on Friday 24th November, the Street Food Market will run on Friday and Saturdays until 9th December, from 12 noon until 9 pm. This will add to the existing array of cafes, restaurants and take-aways who will all be doing something special for the festive season.
SouthGate have exciting plans with a new Christmas tree being the central attraction, with weekend interactive family entertainment.
As if this isn’t enough, head up Milsom Street to discover the glittering decorations displayed amongst the shops and restaurants at Milsom Place, with lots more attractions such as Bath on Ice, Bath Glow, Christmas shopping and not forgetting its panto season.
2017 will see the return of the much loved carousel outside the Pump Room on Stall Street, from 14th December, to ensure a family offering right through Christmas to the end of December.
