Local residents are being warned to expect delays and interruptions to their travel if they use Bath’s roads during the night over the next few weeks.

Road closures and restrictions will be occurring across a lot of the area over the coming week.

The roadworks include temporary traffic lights being installed on the junction of the London Road and Cleveland place, in place until the 4th July.

The work is likely to cause delays and is described as ‘high impact’. BT are set to replace a junction box which supplies the surrounding area with telephony services.

It is to be carried out overnight to ensure there is as minimal disruption to the traffic artery as possible.

Overnight closures of the A4 Box Road near Bathford are also taking place, with the area between Lower Shockerwick to the Wiltshire boundary being closed to traffic.

This will be implemented between 7pm to 7am on Monday 1st July until Friday 5th July.

The closure will allow for Bath and North East Somerset Council to resurface the carriageway, undertaken by contractor Atkins, as part of a multi-million pound upgrade of highways.

Further disruption will be seen on Bath’s High Street and Cheap Street on Tuesday 2nd July until the 4th July, as the University of Bath Summer Awards Ceremony processions take place.

Closures will be taking place for approximately 10-15 minutes before and after each ceremony. The ceremonies last for one hour and are scheduled:

a) Tues 2nd July 2013 – 09:50, 11:00, 12:20, 13:30, 14:50 & 16:00;

b) Wed 3rd July 2013 – 09:50, 11:00, 12:20, 13:30, 14:50, 16:00, 17:20 & 18:30;

c) Thurs 4th July 2013 – 09:50, 11:00, 12:20, 13:30, 14:50, 16:00, 17:20 &  18:30.

Wessex Water will also be closing off New King Street while work to replace a mains leak is undertaken. This will be taking place between 30th June and 3rd July.
