Emergency roadworks will be taking place on the junction of the A4 London Road and A36 Cleveland Place this evening, as BT work to repair a damaged manhole frame in the middle of the carriageway.

B&NES Council say they are expecting BT’s contractors to be on site by 5pm today to undertake emergency repairs to prevent the manhole from collapsing.

Unfortunately, the work cannot be delayed until after the afternoon peak traffic.

The traffic signals at the junction will be turned off and replaced with temporary 3-way signals to enable the work to go ahead, which will cause considerable delays on A4 London Road in and out bound, as well as on A36 Bathwick Street.

The work will be completed by 6am tomorrow morning (Friday) when the junction will return to normal.
