A popular commuter route between Bath and Bristol will be affected by upcoming sewer improvement work, with a lane closure and temporary traffic lights planned for the A420 in Wick next week.

The works will be taking place between Oldbury Lane and Bath Road from Wednesday 12th April until Friday 5th May.

This has been timed to coincide with the Easter school holidays to limit the impact for commuters.

A section of Bath Road will then be closed between Friday 5th May and Friday 16th June, close to Tracy Park golf course, with a diversion in place along Freezing Hill Lane.

Wessex Water is investing more than £600,000 on essential improvements to its network in Wick, connecting properties to a new sewer and reducing the risk of flooding.

Project manager Lucy George said: “We’re aware that both the A420 and Bath Road in Wick are used by many commuters and we apologise for any disruption caused by our roadworks.

“We aim to complete this essential work as quickly as possible while still providing a safe working area, and we thank motorists in advance for their patience and cooperation.”
