Bath & North East Somerset Council is advising local motorists that the A4 Bath Road in Saltford is to close overnight this week for essential resurfacing works.
The A4 will be closed 100 metres either side of the Beech Road/Manor Road junction for up to five nights between 8pm and 6am from Monday 13th February.
A small amount of resurfacing works will also take place at the entrances of Lansdown Road, Beech Road and Manor Road.
During the works traffic will follow a signed diversion via the A39, A368 and A37.
Councillor Anthony Clarke (Conservative, Lansdown), Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We always try to avoid closing busy roads wherever we can but the carriageway here is in poor condition and resurfacing works are needed.
“Fortunately, we are able to carry out this work overnight so it should have the least amount of impact on those needing to use this route.
“As well as the resurfacing we will also be applying a high friction surface to the road to ensure it has good grip approaching the pedestrian crossings.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we hope the work will be carried out quickly and within five nights.
“Drivers needing to travel between Bristol and Bath can use the signed diversion via the A39, A368 and the A37.”
