Organisers of the Peasedown St John Party in the Park have welcomed back a local transport company who will play a major part in this year’s sixth festival.
Westfield-based Parker Transport SW Ltd generously provide one of their 44-tonne lorries as the central stage for the day, all in the name of a good cause.
Founded in 1981 by Kelvin Parker, the business transports goods all over the country and is a provider of employment for local people. This year they are celebrating their 33rd anniversary.
Last week, Party in the Park’s Karen Walker and Danny Brothers visited their offices to thank business owners, Kelvin and Caroline Parker for their support and present them with an early Easter gift.
Event Entertainment Manager, Danny Brothers said: “We are pleased that Parker Transport SW Ltd is supporting us again this year.
“Kelvin and his wife Caroline are always very generous in allowing us to use one of their trucks as our stage for the day. Thanks to them, our live entertainment acts have such a huge impact on the crowd when performing.”
Event Bookings Manager, Karen Walker added: “Despite the recent recession and many local businesses struggling to make extra cash, Parker Transport SW Ltd willingly give up their time for us.
“For this we can’t thank them enough and hope the extra large box of Lindt chocolates we delivered to their office last week will be much appreciated over the Easter break.”
Party in the Park officially starts at 12 noon on Saturday 14th June on Beacon Field – with festivities running until 7 pm it includes the Red Post Beer Tent, hog roast, helter skelter, gladiator joust, croquet, face painting, quad bikes and much more.
It will be officially opened by the Chairman-elect of Bath & North East Somerset Council, Cllr Martin Veal.
Plans include seven hours of live music with performances from Heat, Whytehouse, Worry Dolls, Susan Hill School of Dance and the Victoria Hall Battle of the Bands winner.
The event also features the ‘Grant Giveaway Extravaganza’, the Sara Holley Community Award, Somer Valley FM broadcasting live, and several special-guest hosts.
