Thousands of locals residents were awoken last night after a large thunderstorm moved across the Bath area.

The storm arrived over Bath at around 1am from the south west and slowly travelled north.

The @NOWBath Twitter was flooded (as was one of our followers’ kitchen) with tweets from residents who expressed their surprise at the severity of the thunder and lightning.

Though the Met Office had predicted that thunderstorms were possible in the south west, it seems this was much larger than anticipated.

The weather is set to improve today, with light rain expected this morning and cloudy skies this afternoon.

If you’ve got any additional photos, or have damage to your property caused by the weather, email us – [email protected]

I saw a huge green flash towards the north, from my pov it looked like it was towards Chipping Sodbury, was probably a transformer flash or a power line arc.
