Earlier this month, Peter Groves, Director at chartered accountants Milsted Langdon’s Bath office, visited Monkton Combe School to present one of their students with a special award.
Mr Groves present one of the school’s students with the Milsted Langdon Award for Enterprise 2015 and £100 worth of Waterstones vouchers.
This year’s lucky recipient was year 13 student Jonathan Hambly.
The enterprising teenager buys cars online and at auctions and then spends his time restoring them before selling on the cars for a profit.
So far, Jonathan has made £1,500 and it is all thanks to the car maintenance skills he learnt on a course that he attends each Wednesday at Monkton Combe School.
Peter commented: “I am very proud to be a judge for the Milsted Langdon Award for Enterprise and to be able to present the prize to Jonathan.
“All of the entrants were very strong contenders and show me that the next generation is an enterprising one that will unquestionably be successful in their future endeavours. However, the winner stood out from the other candidates.
“He cleverly combined a strong knowledge of engineering with an ability to draw upon an entrepreneurial flair and that is why, in my eyes, there could only be one winner.
“At Milsted Langdon, we have long enjoyed successful relationships with our local schools and colleges, supporting and encouraging the businessmen and women of tomorrow.
“Jonathan should be very proud of himself and maybe one day I’ll be buying a used car from him!”
