Following difficult trading conditions for street traders created by recent weather, the Council is providing a 50% reduction in street trading pitch fee charges in March 2014.

Councillor David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “The Council maintains regular contact with street traders in our area to understand the challenges faced by proprietors.

“We’ve received a lot of feedback that because of the almost unprecedented weather conditions this has created financial difficulties for street traders.

“The Council recognises the positive contribution that the street trading community brings to enhancing the vibrancy of the street scene and stimulating economic benefits throughout Bath and North East Somerset.

“Therefore, as a one-off gesture we are providing a 50% reduction to their pitch fees in March 2014.  This is a decision we have taken in light of the extenuating circumstances they have struggled with and we hope that it in some way it will help to sustain their businesses in 2014.”

Letters will be issued on Wednesday to street traders, many of which will be hand delivered personally by Councillor Dixon.
