Avon Fire & Rescue raced to a Bath school on Monday afternoon after a fire broke out in one of the dormitory areas.
A faulty extractor fan had sparked the fire in the shower area of a three-storey dormitory at Prior Park College.
When fire crews arrived, at just after 4pm, they could see smoke coming from the roof area.
Fortunately, a member of staff had seen the smoke and alerted the staff and students, who had all safely evacuated before the arrival of the fire service.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the premises and found a fire in the roof space. Using a high pressure hose reel they extinguished the fire.
It’s thought the fire had started accidentally after a fault with an extractor fan.
Luckily nobody was injured during the incident.
