The Council has announce the sponsors for the Bath Stage Start of the Tour of Britain are KLM and Bristol Airport, set to arrive in the city in September.

The Tour of Britain is set to start its 6th stage in Bath on Friday 12th September and Bath & North East Somerset Council, KLM and Bristol Airport are looking forward to welcoming the thousands of spectators who will arrive to witness the professional cyclists lead the race through the city.

KLM operates 4 flights daily which fly passengers to 800 short and long haul destinations worldwide from Bristol Airport via a connection in Amsterdam.

With Bristol Airport being a great choice for flights for residents of Bath, and a convenient gateway for overseas visitors to the city, it’s great to be able to be working with both for such a large international event.

Bath &North East Somerset Council is looking forward to building this relationship and further enhancing before and after the Tour of Britain to create a lasting association which will reach beyond the local authority and overseas.

Cllr David Dixon (Lib-Dem, Oldfield), Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “It’s fantastic to have KLM and Bristol Airport on board as sponsors for the Bath stage of the Tour of Britain. Everyone’s already really excited about hosting some of the biggest names in cycling, and we’re pleased to work with our partners to welcome international visitors to our beautiful World Heritage City for this spectacular event.”

Robert Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer at Bristol Airport, said: “Bristol Airport is delighted to be associated with the Tour of Britain’s stage in Bath.  This exciting event will attract thousands of visitors as well as generating global media coverage which will further enhance the city’s international profile around the world.  We look forward to welcoming cycling fans to the South West this September.”

Warner Rootliep, Air France-KLM UK & Ireland General Manager, said: “KLM is delighted to be part of this unique event that is ‘The Tour of Britain’. Particularly on the Bath stage, alongside Bristol Airport, which remains a key departure point on our extensive UK regional network.

“It is exciting to be able to promote our products and services – including the arrival of our brand new Embraer 190 aircraft on the Bristol route – direct to the local community, at local events.

“We are confident this partnership will be welcomed by our loyal customers and by the wider South West of England community.”
