Home start in Super Rugby for double-winning University of Bath

The University of Bath’s double-winning men’s rugby team will kick-off their 2026-27 British Universities & Colleges Sport Super Rugby campaign at home.

Last season, Bath won their maiden Super Rugby championship. And they completed a fantastic double of national trophies by scooping the Milk Championship, also for the first time, when they got the better of Loughborough University in the final.

Loughborough were also runners-up to Bath in the Super Rugby title-race, so it is perhaps fitting that the sides should meet in Round 1 of the 2026-27 competition. The match will be played on Wednesday 23rd September.

Bath’s first away game will be at Brunel University of London in Round 2 on Wednesday 30th September.

This season will be Brunel’s debut campaign in Super Rugby, making them the first men’s team to join since the University of Nottingham were promoted for 2022-23.

Bath will wrap up their league season by visiting Loughborough in Round 18 on Wednesday 10th March.

September: 23rd Loughborough (H), 30th Brunel (A).

October: 7th Hartpury (A), 14th Exeter (H), 21st Cardiff Met (H).

November: 4th Nottingham (A), 11th Durham (A), 18th Leeds Beckett (H).

December: 2nd Cardiff (A), 9th Durham (H), 16th Hartpury (H).

January: 20th Brunel (H), 27th Leeds Beckett (A).

February: 3rd Nottingham (H), 10th Cardiff Met (A), 24th Exeter (A).

March: 3rd Cardiff (H), 18th Loughborough (A).

The Milk Championship quarter-finals will be played on Wednesday 31st March, with the semis a week later and the final on Wednesday 21st April.

Meanwhile, Will Roue – a prominent figure in the University of Bath’s glories last season – has signed his first professional contract with Bath Rugby.

The fly-half turned out for the Blue, Black & White in the 2025-26 PREM Rugby Cup.

A statement from The Rec outfit said: “The club can confirm Will Roue has signed his first professional contract with Bath Rugby.

“After an exciting period at the club during Bath’s PREM Rugby Cup campaign in 2025-26, Roue has committed his future to the Blue, Black & White.

“First coming onto the scene through Bath’s partnership with the University of Bath, Roue was a pivotal part of Bath’s matchday squad that reached the semi-final stages of the PREM Cup competition.

“Representing Team Bath, Roue was also part of the England Universities side that took on French Universities.

“Roue will join Bath Rugby as an official member of the squad.”

Roue said: “I feel very privileged to be signing at Bath Rugby, and to be involved in a world-class environment.

“Playing professional rugby has always been a dream of mine and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey and my development.”
