Dates have now been fixed for some of the early matches in this season’s Davis Access Bath & District Combination Cup and Vase competitions.

Getting the campaign under way on Saturday 15th November will be games between home side Warminster and Westbury in the Cup and hosts Midsomer Norton and Frome in the Vase.

Combe Down will receive last term’s beaten finalists Corsham in the Vase on Saturday 31st January.

And Chippenham, who were runners-up in the 2024-25 Cup, will entertain Devizes on Saturday 7th February as they bid to go one better this time around.

The finals of this season’s Cup and Vase will again be played at The Rec, home of Bath Rugby.

Meanwhile, the Combination’s women’s representative side will begin training in the new year. However, the team are searching for a manager.

A Combination mixed-ability representative side might be established, but coaches and a manager are needed to head this up.

Anyone interested in the roles can contact the Combination on social media.

The top league game locally on Saturday 8th November is a biggie – second-placed Walcot will entertain table-toppers Swanage & Wareham in Counties 1 Tribute Ale Southern South.

Both sides have the maximum 25 points from five matches in the Level 7 division but the Swans are in pole position due to a vastly superior points difference.

Among the Purbeck outfit’s successes this season are 55-0 home drubbing of Melksham and a 57-0 crushing of fellow Dorset club Sherborne, also at Bestwall.

Depleted Walcot 2nd XV were beaten 54-13 when they visited Chew Valley 3rd XV on Saturday 1st November in Counties 4 Tribute Ale Somerset North. But Chew were full of praise for the Lansdown men.

A spokesman for the Lobbingtons side said: “Huge credit to Walcot, who travelled with the bare 15 and, true to the spirit of rugby, several of our lads pulled on the Walcot shirt to keep the game going for the full 80 minutes.

“That’s what rugby’s all about and perfectly aligns with our club values.”

Local league result from Saturday 1st November:

Counties 4 Tribute Ale Somerset North: Chew Valley 3rd XV 54 Walcot 2nd XV 13.

Local league fixtures for Saturday 8th November:

Counties 1 Tribute Ale Southern South: Walcot v Swanage & Wareham.
