The handler based at Cropthorne in Worcestershire was successful in the first and sixth contests on the nine-race card at the Lansdown track.

In the opener, the Bet Wright Bet The Wright Way Apprentice Handicap over one mile and two furlongs, the Carroll-trained Annexation took the honours by one-and-three-quarter lengths at 16/1 with Matthew Lloyd on board. Runner-up was Twilight Moon.

Carroll’s second victory came in the five-furlong BetWright Safer Gambling Handicap, where 3/1 favourite HK Fourteen, ridden by Jack Doughty, prevailed by one-and-a-quarter lengths from second-placed Cressida Wildes.

The BetWright Bangers N’Cash Handicap, the second race of the afternoon, was won by 22/1 chance Endofastorm, from Joe Ponting’s yard at Hillesley in Gloucestershire. Piloted by Kieran O’Neill, Endofastorm beat second-placed Harlington, the 3/1 favourite, by a neck over one mile and five furlongs.

Next up was the one-mile Beatwright: Beat The Wright Way Handicap (Div I), which saw 16/5 favourite Thapa VC score for Leafield, Oxfordshire, handler Mark Rimell. Ridden by Jack Mitchell, Thapa VC pipped second-placed On A Vespa by a head.

The fourth race on the card was the one-mile Beatwright: Beat The Wright Way Handicap (Div II), won by Latin (5/1) from James Owen’s yard at Newmarket, Suffolk. With Paddy Bradley aboard, Latin finished one-and-a-half lengths clear of runner-up Thiscouldbefun.

The £20,000 British EBF Future Stayers’ Novice Stakes, also over one mile, was the meeting’s fifth race. And it resulted in victory for the Rob Hornby-partnered Item, trained by Andrew Balding at Kingsclere, Hampshire. Item, the 4/6 favourite, was a three-and-a-half-length winner from runner-up Blue Courvoisier.

The seventh race was the BetWright Nursery Handicap over five-and-a-half furlongs – and it provided Hornby with another triumph. This time he rode 20/1 shot Reality Queen to victory by a neck over second-placed Red Snapper. Reality Queen is trained by Jonathan Portman at Upper Lambourn, Berkshire.

The penultimate contest, the Thank You To BetWright Handicap, resulted in success by a neck for 9/2 favourite On Edge. Trained by Chris Mason (Caerwent, Monmouthshire) and ridden by Gina Mangan, the seven-year-old finished ahead of runner-up Zoulu Warrior in the five-and-a-half-furlong contest.

The closing Arabian Racehorse Magazine In Association With Trackside Handicap Stakes, over one mile and two furlongs and for purebred Arabians, was won by Sassy (7/1), ridden by Isobelle Chalmers and saddled by Steve Blackwell (Lewistown, Bridgend). Second, by a neck, was Mdawi.

Going was good to firm (good in places).

The next meeting at Bath is the Property & Construction Raceday on Thursday 9th October. There will be a six-race card, starting at 1.20pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
