Open day for Buccaneers and club day for City of Bath this Sunday

Team Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club will hold their club open day on Sunday 7th September.

Hockey players looking for a new club will be made very welcome at Team Bath Buccaneers and City of Bath on 7th September

The event will take place at the University of Bath from 2pm to 5pm – and it will be open to everyone, not just members of the club. Prospective new players are especially welcome.

The Buccaneers have described the open day as a fantastic afternoon of fun, games and community spirit.

There will be mixed seven-a-side matches for hockey players aged from 13. Teams will be formed on the day and bibs will be provided.

Visitors will be able to test their skills in aerial and crossbar challenges.

Before the open day gets under way, there will be a full match starting at 12.30pm – Team Bath Buccaneers Men’s 2nd XI versus Wootton-under-Edge.

The Buccaneers will play six matches – four of these at home – on Saturday 6th September.

The Ladies’ 1st XI will host Gloucester 1st XI (11am); the Men’s 7th XI/8th XI (12.30pm) and 5th XI (2pm) will entertain Gwent opposition; and the Men’s 6th XI will receive Shepton Mallet 2nd XI (3.30pm).

On their travels will be the Men’s 3rd XI/4th XI (at Shepton Mallet, 1.30pm) and the Men’s 1st XI (at Old Cranleighan, Surrey, 6pm).

Rich Bendry will coach the Men’s 1st XI this season, taking over from Bobby Crutchely who has moved to Great Britain Hockey as performance director. Bendry was the Buccaneers’ Men’s 2nd XI coach during 2024-25.

City of Bath Hockey Club will stage their club day at Kingswood School’s lower pitch on Sunday 7th September.

Fun, food and lots of hockey are promised at the Lansdown Road site – and new players are welcome.

There will be juniors’ hockey from 11am until noon, and seniors’ hockey from noon until 1pm.

City of Bath’s men train on Tuesdays from 7pm until 8.30pm, and the ladies train on Wednesdays from 7pm until 8.30pm. All sessions are at Kingswood School’s lower pitch.
