Crushing wins for Buccaneers’ Ladies’ 1st XI and Men’s 6th XI

Team Bath Buccaneers played seven friendly matches over the weekend of Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September – and there were crushing victories for the Ladies’ 1st XI and the Men’s 6th XI.

Team Bath Buccaneers continued their build-up to the league season by playing seven matches over the weekend

The Ladies’ 1st XI were at home and thrashed their Gloucester counterparts 5-0.

And the Men’s 6th XI – also at home – went one better by drubbing Shepton Mallet opposition 6-0. The winners included three pairs of fathers and sons in their line-up – Rich and Toby Peden, Sam and Jude le Page, and Marty and Arthur Pellow.

Team Bath Men’s 1st XI drew 2-2 at Surrey club Old Cranleighan.

The Men’s 2nd XI took on visitors Wotton-under-Edge as a prelude to the Buccaneers’ club day last Sunday and secured a 4-2 success.

The Men’s 3rd XI/4th XI were hammered 5-1 at Shepton Mallet but the Men’s 5th XI were 1-0 home victors against Gwent.

However, the Men’s 7th XI/8th XI were thumped 9-1 when they hosted Gwent opponents.

This weekend, Saturday 13th September and Sunday 14th September, Team Bath will play 10 fixtures – including five derbies against City of Bath – as they continue to gear up for the start of the 2025-26 leagues.

Saturday 13th September: Team Bath Ladies’ 1st XI v Cardiff & Met (2pm), Bournemouth & Fareham v Team Bath Ladies’ 2nd XI (11.30am), Gillingham 1st XI v Team Bath Ladies’ 3rd XI (10.30am), Team Bath Ladies’ 4th XI v City of Bath Ladies’ 1st XI (10am), City of Bath Ladies’ 2nd XI v Team Bath Ladies’ 5th XI (10.30am), Trojans v Team Bath Men’s 1st XI/2nd XI (1.30pm), City of Bath Men’s 1st XI v Team Bath 3rd XI/4th XI (noon), Team Bath Men’s 5th XI/6th XI v City of Bath Men’s 2nd XI (3.30pm), City of Bath Men’s 3rd XI v Team Bath Men’s 7th XI (3.15pm).

Sunday 14th September: Team Bath Men’s 1st XI v Isca (1pm).

Team Bath’s top adult teams will begin league action over the weekend of Saturday 20th September and Sunday 21st September, when they go to Buckinghamshire.

The Ladies’ 1st XI will commence their England Hockey Women’s Conference West programme against Marlow 1st XI at Marlow Sports Club on Saturday 20th September (3pm).

And the Men’s 1st XI will get under way the next day, visiting Marlow 1st XI in Men’s Conference West (2.45pm).

Team Bath’s other adult teams, along with the adult sides from City of Bath and Mendip, will be lining up in the West Hockey divisions in 2025-26. The first round of matches in those competitions will start on Saturday 27th September.

Mendip are now based at Ralph Allen School in Combe Down, having previously played home games in Chew Magna.

This season in the leagues, Team Bath will be fielding 15 adult teams, City of Bath will be putting out six adult sides and Mendip will be operating three adult XIs.
