Buccs’ women’s 1s lose unbeaten record, men’s 1s win at Exeter

Team Bath Buccaneers’ women’s 1st XI lost 3-2 at home to Trojans – but the Buccs’ men’s 1st XI prevailed 3-2 at University of Exeter 2nd XI

Team Bath Buccaneers’ women’s 1st XI lost for the first time this season when they were beaten by visiting Trojans 1st XI on Saturday 1st November.

The guests, based at Eastleigh in Hampshire, won the England Hockey Women’s Conference West match 3-2 at the University of Bath to move up to fourth place in the table.

The Buccaneers remain in second spot and did not lose too much ground on undefeated leaders Cardiff & Met 1st XI as the Welsh side were held to a 1-1 draw by Cheltenham 1st XI. Team Bath trail the table-toppers by three points after six rounds of games.

Trojans took an 11th-minute lead through Poppy Roddis but Izzy Usher levelled seven minutes later.

However, the travellers had built up a 3-1 advantage – courtesy of a goal apiece from Amy Sheehan and Gracie Coleman – before Tabitha Tinniswood struck for the Buccs in the 69th minute.

Team Bath face arguably their toughest match of the season so far when they receive Cardiff & Met on Saturday 8th November (1.30pm). A home win that wipes out the principality outfit’s slightly better goal-difference will take the Buccs to the league’s summit.

A 69th-minute goal from Luca Gormley gave the Buccaneers’ men’s 1st XI a 3-2 success at University of Exeter 2nd XI in England Hockey Men’s Conference West on Sunday 2nd November.

Will Waltham handed Exeter a 15th-minute advantage but two goals – one from a penalty corner – by Alex Renwick swung the tie Team Bath’s way.

Lucas Gui equalised in the 67th minute but Gormley struck shortly afterwards to secure maximum points for the Buccaneers.

Team Bath, who are third in the table, will host league leaders Chichester 1st XI on Sunday 9th November (1pm). The unbeaten West Sussex side are four points ahead of the Buccs.
