Team Bath women’s 1s two points clear at top, men’s 1s win thriller

Team Bath Buccaneers’ women’s 1st XI are now two points clear at the top of England Hockey Women’s Conference West after beating their Exeter counterparts 2-0

Team Bath Buccaneers’ women’s 1st XI pulled clear at the top of England Hockey Women’s Conference West by beating visitors Exeter 1st XI on Saturday 28th February.

A Nia Simpkins goal from a penalty corner broke the deadlock in the 27th minute and Izzy Usher netted in the 40th minute to seal a 2-0 victory.

The result lifted Team Bath two points above second-placed Cardiff & Met 1st XI, who drew 2-2 at Clifton Robinsons 2nd XI.

The Buccaneers’ men’s 1st XI recorded a 4-3 success in a thriller at Cardiff & Met 2nd XI in an England Hockey Men’s Conference West mid-table battle on Sunday 1st March.

A goal apiece from Alex Renwick and Andrew Oxburgh put Team Bath 2-0 up, only for James Pettitt to pull one back.

Oxburgh struck again on the half-hour and Kaya Campion made it 4-1 when he scored in the 47th minute.

Then two home goals in the space of nine minutes, Matthew Dicker and Josh Mill the marksmen, made for an interesting and nervy finish.
