Teenager Jasmine Rennie has become the first player in Bath City Women’s history to score four goals in a game.
The winger, a product of the Romans’ academy, stole the show in the club’s Somerset Women’s Junior Cup semi-final against Paulton Rovers Ladies on Sunday 15th March.
Eighteen-year-old Rennie put Paulton to the sword after the break, hitting all of her goals in the second half as City ran out 6-0 winners at Winterfield Road.
Bath opened the scoring in the 16th minute, courtesy of an own goal. Poppy Spratt crossed and the hosts’ Alice Dwyer put the ball into her own net.
Paulton keeper Rosie Kelsey then produced a fine parry to deny Bex Fry, Rennie sending the rebound just wide.
However, City did extend their lead in the 44th minute. Erin Duffy sent over a corner, Rosie Burridge knocked the ball on and Adella Clarke headed beyond Kelsey.
Rennie bagged her first goal four minutes into the second period, beating Kelsey after good work by skipper Tara Taylor.
And Rennie struck again 12 minutes later, this time tapping in the loose ball after a Duffy free-kick bounced off Kelsey.
Following a cross from Bath substitute Eliza Bjorkhammer being handled in the box by Dwyer, Rennie dispatched the resulting penalty to complete her hat-trick in the 79th minute.
Bjorkhammer provided the assist for Rennie to score her fourth goal. This time Rennie lobbed Kelsey in the 86th minute.
Bath starting XI: Lucy Clay, Bex Fry, Abby Gray, Poppy Spratt, Tara Taylor, Adella Clarke, Jasmine Rennie, Rosie Burridge, Erin Duffy, Sophie Storey, Emma Vilday.
It was fitting that Rennie should inspire City to reach their second successive county-cup final because she notched her first goal for the team in last year’s showpiece against Weston-super-Mare Women.
Bath won that match – and they will be hoping for a repeat result in the 2026 final, at Brislington on Thursday 30th April, when the Seagulls will be their opponents once again.
However, the Romans have several Shield Services Group South West Regional Women’s League matches to come before their big date at Ironmould Lane.
The first of those games will be a Division One North fixture against Cirencester Town Ladies at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park on Sunday 22nd March (2pm).
Bath City Women Development had no match on 14th March but will visit Nailsea United Women in Somerset County Women’s League Division One on Sunday 22nd March (2pm).
Odd Down Women were also without a fixture on 14th March – but will have a great chance to get one hand on the Somerset County Women’s League Division Two championship on Sunday 22nd March.
The table-topping Down will entertain second-placed Ashton Women at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground (2pm).
Both sides have four matches to go, and Odd Down lead the Bristolians by six points.
Third-placed Street Women have only three games left and lie seven points behind the Down.
Portishead Town Ladies A, in fourth spot, are nine points adrift of Odd Down and have four fixtures remaining.
