Rennie bags two as Romans see off Gloucester in 2025 finale

Jasmine Rennie scored twice as Bath City Women secured their fifth victory of the season in Shield Services Group South West Regional Women’s League Division One North.

The Romans travelled to relegation-battlers Gloucester City Women Reserves and recorded a 3-0 success on the artificial surface at the KMM Energy Stadium on Sunday 14th December.

And Bath almost took a second-minute lead, Adella Clarke being denied by Tigers’ keeper Sam Linteo.

But Clarke made no mistake 14 minutes later, as she put the guests in front when seizing on a ricochet to net from close range.

Linteo denied Rennie – and then the Romans’ Tara Taylor was off target with just the custodian to beat.

But Bath did made it 2-0 six minutes into the second half. Erin Duffey set up Rennie, who got the better of Linteo from 10 yards.

Gloucester’s best chance came when a speculative shot from Kiera Feighery cannoned off the inside of a Bath post.

However, the visitors were not fazed. Rennie fired narrowly over the bar before lashing in from 25 yards with 19 minutes remaining.

And the Romans had chances to make the scoreline more emphatic, a Duffy free-kick hitting a post and a Rennie drive slamming against the bar.

The match was the Romans’ first since Sunday 23rd November, due to weather-related postponements.

Bath now take a break until Sunday 4th January, when they will play Downend Flyers at Pomphrey Hill Playing Fields, Mangotsfield, in the league.

Bath City Women Development had no game on Saturday 14th December. They will resume action on Sunday 4th January, when they face West Dorset team Bridport Women at St Mary’s Field in Somerset County Women’s League Division One.

Odd Down Women wrapped up their 2025 programme by losing their unbeaten record in Somerset County Women’s League Division Two.

The Down went into their 10th game of the league campaign having dropped only two points – but mid-table Ilminster Town Ladies caused an upset by winning 2-1 at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground on Sunday 14th December.

Millie Lewis struck for the Down in a first half that ended 1-1. Lewis was picked out as the home side’s star performer.

On target for the South Somerset outfit were Harriet Kelly and their player-of-the-match Summer Stoodley.

Next up for Odd Down Women is a league fixture at home to Bishops Lydeard Ladies Reserves on Sunday 4th January.
