Odd Down scored a last-gasp goal as they took the honours from their all-Somerset clash at Cheddar – a Jewson Western League fixture that was watched by a crowd of only 25.

The Cheesemen were looking for the victory that would have lifted them out of the Division One relegation zone.

But the Down recorded a 1-0 success on Tuesday 3rd March, their first triumph since they hammered Welton Rovers 4-1 on Saturday 10th January.

However, it must be remembered that the Bath club played only three matches in between those two outings, due mainly to weather-related postponements.

The injury-time decider at Bowdens Park came from Jack Paul. Coming off the bench in the 85th minute, he struck following an assist from fellow substitute Gracjan Blajek to condemn the Sedgemoor hosts to their 16th reverse in 28 league ties.

Odd Down: Oscar Morris, James Hare, Lewis Bahadur, Josh Howlett, James Book, Charlie Saunders, Treyvond Anderson, Toby Davis, Stan Dickenson (Gracjan Blajek, 80), Jasper Morris (Nicholas Taylor, 65), Alfie Andrews (Jack Paul, 85).

The Down were pegged back by visitors Bitton on Saturday 28th February, the Division One derby ending 1-1.

Stan Dickenson’s 30th-minute goal gave Odd Down the upper hand at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground, but Bitton’s Sonny Parker netted in the second period to ensure the points were shared.

Odd Down: Matthew Green, Josh Howlett, Lewis Bahadur, James Book, Joe Paradise, Charlie Saunders, Treyvond Anderson, Alfie Kelsey (Toby Davis, 65), Stan Dickenson (Jasper Morris, 75), James Hare, Jack Paul (Alfie Andrews, 75).

Next up for the Down is a league clash with Bristol club Shirehampton at Penpole Lane on Saturday 7th March (3pm).

Odd Down Development will visit Perry Street League side South Petherton Reserves in the Somerset Intermediate Cup quarter-finals after defeating Minehead-based Alcombe Rovers 4-0 in the fourth round on Saturday 28th February.

Kevin Boadi’s 25th-minute goal opened the scoring against the Taunton & District League outfit at Odd Down Sports Ground.

Luis Himdi doubled the lead in the 54th minute – and a late brace from substitute Tyrelle Ansah completed the rout.

The match at Pethy’s Recreation Ground home in South Somerset is set to be played on Saturday 21st March.

Odd Down Devs will face more knockout action on Saturday 7th March, when they host Pilton United in the Bryan Wells Charity Cup second round (2pm). A quarter-final at Haydon Sports awaits the winners.

The Devs have been drawn away to Coleford Athletic in the semi-finals of the Paulton Hospital Cup, the tie due to take place on Saturday 28th March.
