The second-placed Larks went into the match at the Camella Stadium knowing that victory could take them to the top of the table.

Athletic recorded a 3-1 success – but the same evening, Supermarine hammered visiting Wroughton 8-0 to maintain their 100 per cent record and a one-point cushion at the summit.

The league leaders have two matches in hand on Larkhall and third-placed Melksham Town Reserves, who lie two points behind the Bath team following a 4-4 midweek draw with Purton Kingsdown.

The Larks went 2-0 up early on against Park thanks to a goal apiece from James Okell and James Horrocks.

However, each side then had a man dismissed following an off-the-ball incident.

Lowly Park – who are based in Corsham – pulled back a goal in the second period and threatened an equaliser.

But Athletic raised their game in the final half-hour and struck again, Ben Wickens on target.

After the game, Park described the hosts as “an excellent side and will be right in the mix of winning the league this season”.

Larkhall will make the trip to Down Ampney on Saturday 13th September for their next Premier Division game (3pm).

The Gloucestershire/Wiltshire border club have won three of their 10 league fixtures after making the step up from Division One this year.
