I loved every minute at Larks, says Price after quitting hot seat

Ollie Price has resigned as manager of Larkhall Athletic after four years – but he says he loved every minute of his time with the club.

The ex-Larkhall captain quit on Wednesday 17th December, with the Camella Stadium outfit lying 10th in Pitching In Southern League Division One South.

In a statement, former Exeter City youth player and one-time Mangotsfield United gaffer Price said: “I have resigned from my position as first-team manager.

“I feel now is the right time to step down, allowing someone new to take the club forward.

“The club and its supporters have always given me their full support, which I have always appreciated.

“I have loved every minute of my four years in charge, and we have enjoyed many good times.

“The FA Trophy tie away to Stockport County will live long in the memory, as will playing the FA Cup match versus Bath City at home in front of a sold-out Plain Ham.

“Finishing sixth in the 2023-24 season was the club’s best finish for eight years.

“It has also been a pleasure to be part of the development of the new 3G pitch and stand, which has given the club and community the boost to become bigger and better in the future.

“I want to wish the club and its new management nothing but success going forward.

“It really is a truly special club with wonderful people behind the scenes, and I’ve been its proud manager.

“I would also like to thank every player that has ever played for me and wish you all the best for the future.”

Larkhall chairman Paul Rankin said in a statement: “I would like to express our sincere gratitude, both personally and on behalf of the club, for the outstanding contribution Ollie has made, first as a player and captain and, most recently, manager.

“Ollie has worked tirelessly to improve performances; no-one has worked harder.

“Throughout his tenure, he has represented the club impeccably and upheld the highest standards and values that we believe in.

“I am confident this will not be the last time we will see Ollie involved in local football, which will undoubtedly benefit from the passion and commitment he has consistently shown.

“We wish Ollie and his family all of the very best for the future.

“Once a Lark, always a Lark – and in this case, a true Larkhall legend.”

While Athletic undergo what director of football Andy Gilbert described as an internal review to plan the next steps, John Durbin will lead the team. Durbin will be supported by Andy Crabtree.

Meanwhile, midfielder Max Williams – a former Bristol City youth player – has left Larkhall.
