The Down travelled to Moor Lane on Saturday 7th September and romped to a 9-3 victory.

It was 4-1 at half-time, the visitors having gone 2-0 up and Town pulling things back to 2-1.

Erin Watkins and Sophia Wright each struck a hat-trick in South Somerset, and there was a goal apiece for Jessica Bailey and Kyla de Silva. A first-half own goal completed Odd Down’s tally.

Sammi Seldon netted the Hornets’ first-half goal. And Donna Hitchens came off the bench to grab a double in the second period, her strikes leaving Winky only 4-3 adrift before the Down raced away.

Hitchens was named Wincanton’s top performer.

Odd Down will play their first home game of the league season on Sunday 14th September, when they face Taunton outfit Staplegrove Ladies at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground (2pm).

The Grove suffered a 5-1 home defeat by Portishead Town A in their opener last weekend.
