Bath City Development were the only local women’s team to play on Sunday 11th January – and they probably wish that they hadn’t.

The Romans entertained Banwell Ladies at Peasedown St John Recreation Ground in Somerset County Women’s League Division One and tumbled to a 2-0 defeat, the result lifting the visitors above them in the table.
In wet and windy conditions, the North Somerset outfit netted twice in the first half. On target for Banwell – who had not played since Sunday 7th December – were Nicola Robinson and Mia Duncan.
City Development, who are now down to sixth place in the standings, have no scheduled match until Saturday 25th January, when they will travel to Division Three North team Weston Celtic Women in the first round of the league’s Chairman’s Cup.
The Romans’ women’s first team were set to receive Stockwood Wanderers at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park on Sunday 11th January. But the Shield Services Group South West Regional Women’s League Division One North clash was called off because of the weather.
The Bath-Stockwood game will now be played on Sunday 3rd May.
City’s next fixture will be against Staplegrove Ladies at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park on Sunday 18th January. The Somerset Women’s Junior Cup second-round tie will kick-off at 2pm.
Supporters attending any of City Women’s remaining games at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park will have the chance to win one of the Romans’ 2026-27 shirts.
At each home match until the end of this campaign, there will be a special competition QR code available at the ticket desk.
Scanning the QR code will provide spectators with an entry into the competition.
The more matches fans attend, the more chances they have to win as the QR code can be scanned at every game, thus providing further entries.
Odd Down Women are still top of Somerset County Women’s League Division Two, despite having a blank afternoon on Sunday 10th January.
The Down had no scheduled game but could have been knocked off the summit by Ashton Women.
The second-placed Bristol side were set to host Ilminster Town Ladies, knowing that a big victory would take them into pole position.
But the match at Bristol Manor Farm’s ground was postponed because of the weather.
Odd Down will be back in action on Sunday 18th January, when Weston-super-Mare Women will visit the Lew Hill Memorial Ground in the Somerset Women’s Junior Cup second round (2pm).
The Down’s league fixture at home to Bishops Lydeard Ladies Reserves has been rearranged for Sunday 29th March.
The match had originally been programmed for Sunday 4th January but fell victim to the elements.
