The Down, who top the Trophies of Radstock Mid Somerset League Division One table, got the better of AFC Strode, who sit in pole position in Yeovil & District League Division One, in a third-round tie at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground.

A second-half penalty from Stan Dickensen did the trick, sending Odd Down into the last 16.

The Down will be in knockout action again on Saturday 24th January, when they receive Pilton United in the Bryan Wells Charity Cup second round (2pm).

This will be the first of two cup meetings between the teams in successive weeks, as they face off in the Clark Cup at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground on Saturday 31st January.

Odd Down 1st XI had no match on Saturday 17th January. But they will be back in action on Saturday 24th January when they travel to Cheddar in Jewson Western League Division One (3pm).

The Down will be looking for their third consecutive league victory when they take on the Cheesemen – who are just one place ahead of the relegation zone – at Bowdens Park (3pm).

When the sides met at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground in November, the result was a 1-1 draw. Jasper Morris saved a point for the hosts with an injury-time equaliser.
