City Women open friendly programme with win over Cirencester

Bath City Women began their programme of pre-season friendlies by winning at fellow Tier 6 side Cirencester Town Ladies on Sunday 19th July.

A brace from Rosie Burridge handed the Romans a 2-1 success against a side who will compete in South West Regional Women’s League Division One North during 2026-27.

Burridge – normally a defender but playing up front in Gloucestershire – opened the scoring from close range in the 11th minute, following good work by Beth Edwards and Maddy Brown.

And Burridge, who will celebrate her 19th birthday this weekend, was sent clear by Sophie Storey to double the advantage in the 40th minute.

Cirencester reduced the arrears in the 75th minute, a cross-shot from Jodie Bailey deceiving keeper Lucy Clay.

City are gearing up for a campaign in the new South West Regional Women’s League Division One Central, having finished sixth of 12 teams in Division One North last term.

They will play four more friendlies before competitive action gets under way.

Two of those warm-up fixtures will be at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park, starting with a visit from Division One North’s Bristol Brunel on Sunday 26th July (2pm).

The following Sunday, 2nd August, City will travel to Division One North’s Frampton Rangers.

And on Sunday 23rd August, the Romans will go to Gloucestershire County Women’s League outfit AEK Boco Reserves.

The final warm-up game will be at home to Corsham Town – another side from South West Regional Women’s League Division One North – on Wednesday 26th August.
