Title-chasing Lansdown 3rd XI limped into three figures and were thumped by 91 runs when they visited Bristol Lions 2nd XI in Bristol & District Cricket Association Division Nine East on Saturday 9th August.

Lansdown 3rd XI were all out for 101 in their crushing defeat by Bristol Lions 2nd XI

The Down inserted their hosts and removed them for 192 in 36.5 overs, number three Chandana Jayasena leading the way with a 43-ball 44 that contained seven boundaries.

Second-highest scorer was number nine Hamza Sagheer, with 27 from 14 deliveries, and Ismail Faruk added 26. Both were ousted by Ollie Humphries, who finished with 3-34 off 5.5 overs.

Freddie Veal and Xander Priscott grabbed two wickets apiece.

There was no way back for Lansdown after they plummeted to 28-4 in reply.

Linden Hopkins (19) and Harry Veal (49) were belligerent, putting on 33 for the fifth wicket. But the visitors then crumbled to 67-7 as three wickets went down for six runs.

None of the other batters got into double figures, although extras contributed 19, as Bath were dismissed for 101 in 22.3 overs.

Harry Veal cracked three sixes and five fours in his 44-ball innings.

Faruk returned 3-35 off 7.3 overs for the Lions.

Lansdown will be looking to return to winning ways when they receive league leaders Bristol New Eleven 2nd XI in a crucial fixture on Saturday 16th August.
