A popular community Cricket Club has been awarded funding by the Council in preparation for its summer matches.

Peasedown St John Cricket Club was given a grant of £350 so the management committee could purchase a new aerator for its cricket mower.
Ken Wilcox, the Chairman of Trustees at the Club said: “Cricket has been played here for over 120 years, and our facilities are very well used.
“Not only is the Club the home ground of our own cricket teams, the Guinness Trust and Kilmersdon teams are based here as well.”
Last week, the grounds were rented by Salford University for use, and are often used by teams from around the country for training purposes.
Cllr Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem, Peasedown) secured the grant for the Club following a funding application received from trustees.
He said: “I’m pleased that the £350 has been put to good use with the acquirement of a new aerator. I visited the club last Saturday morning to see it in action – it will certainly make outside cricket play this summer even more enjoyable for players.”
Aerators are used to prevent sparse grass growth, an uneven bounce, and create a generally flatter playing surface.
Peasedown St John Cricket Club is a CAS (Community Amateur Sport) Club, with facilities available for the public use. Anyone interested in finding out more can visit www.peasedownst.play-cricket.com or call 01761 437319.
